This statement holds true for those who have chosen to make a difference in life. Bill Gates did not just set a goal to place a personal computer on the table of every home, he did take some steps to actualize this vision.
On the home front, a man like Aliko Dangote (irrespective of what you think about him) is not just wishing to take over key sectors across Africa, he is taking action towards achieving his goal.
In a recent Forbes magazine feature on him; “he said that the true value of his businesses will be known by 2013.”
I have chosen to make a positive difference in life, that’s why I love to go after knowledge when the opportunity arises. Hence, my decision to enrol for the FATE Foundation EEP program which kicks of on the 22nd of August, 2012
4 Reasons why you should attend the FATE Foundation EEP Programme
1. Fresh Insights
As your business grows, it is extremely important your seek for fresh ideas. No one has the monopoly of knowledge.
We now accept the fact that learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change. And the most pressing task is to teach people how to learn.
– Peter Drucker
2. Networking
Pastor Sam Adeyemi of Daystar often says your Net worth is largely dependent on your network.
I agree with this statement to a large extent, and so networking for me is part of my daily bread towards becoming a true man of valour.
This programme just like every gathering of like-minded people (in this case entrepreneurs) is a platform to make friends and network. I have heard stories of lives that were changed after attending this programme but at the same time, I have also heard of those who remained stagnant even after attending.
Success and failure is nothing but a mind game – guard your heart jealously if you want to succeed in life.
– Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata Jnr. “CFA”
3. Mentoring
Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.
– John C. Crosby
I don’t know about you but when I attend such programmes, I usually go prepared and one of my goals is usually to find myself a good customer or mentor before the end of the programme.
By the end of my FATE Foundation Aspiring entrepreneurs program, I got myself hooked to a number of mentors but ultimately became very close to Sam Asekunowo, the author of the power of plan B. Today, I usually consult him (for free) whenever I need to make a major business decision.
In a future post, I would talk about my latest experiment with mentoring and mentorship because I believe it is a critical part of success.
Takeaway tip: Find yourself a good and experienced mentor, whether paid or free who would be willing to work with you to grow your business.
4. Value for Money
The truth is that the FATE Foundation EEP Programme is highly subsidized. I believe that what you are requested to pay is child’s play compared to the value you get.
Most of the established entrepreneurs who leave their businesses to come seat with participants are millionaires and you would agree with me that time is money. Now, when they come to class, participants literally tear them apart with questions and requests for one favour or the other.
About the FATE Foundation EEP Programme
EEP stands for Emerging Entrepreneurs Program – it is designed for Entrepreneurs who wish to take their businesses to the next level. It is 9 week-long, hands on, highly interactive programme that holds twice a year.
Facilitators are usually Chief Executive Officers or Top management officials of medium size and large-scale organisations who have combined experience of over 200 years.
The FATE Foundation EEP programme course content includes Risk analysis, business strategy, ethics, marketing, networking, negotiation skills, innovation, leadership and lots more.
In the future, I hope they would include an Internet Marketing related session (I’ll try make them see the reason why) because as far as I am concerned, it is silly for any Entrepreneur in today’s world to assume that they don’t need the Internet to grow.
Yes, this may seem true for a while but it will not always be – times are changing faster than you can imagine. If you don’t have a website you can approach Project *Develop to help you a develop a professional website at no cost – we are in partnership with them to help get more Nigerian businesses online.
A mind-blowing Testimonial
My first experience at FATE Foundation’s aspiring entrepreneurs programme (AEP) elevated my business from level 1 to level 5 and when in 2009, I felt the need for a further breadth of fresh air – FATE was no doubt my port of call. The 2nd experience at the FATE Foundation Emerging Entrepreneurs Programme no doubt once again catapulted my business to a whole new level.
– Gbenga Oshin, CEO, HighHeels Limited (EEP Class 1)
